Last week, Planted Organic Cafe celebrated its Grand Opening on Main Street and officially stepped onto the downtown Melrose food scene. A collaboration between Melrose natives Zack Pietrantonio and Jenine Wright, who owns Fit Life, Planted rounds out the breakfast and lunch options on Main Street and makes healthy, clean eating easy and delicious.

Pietrantonio owns the cafe and handles the logistics, while Wright is in charge of the menu. “You would have had to go into Cambridge to find this kind of food,” Wright explained.

Planted offers a variety of smoothies and smoothie bowls, and several types of sandwiches and salads. They also have some grab-and-go options, bottled kombucha, and baked goods. All of the offerings are vegetarian, and most are also vegan. The ingredients are all organic, and Pietrantonio and Wright try to source locally grown produce whenever possible.

While vegetarians, vegans, and health food fans will definitely be excited to try Planted, there is something on the menu for everyone, whether you’re looking for breakfast, lunch or a snack; sweet or savory. We especially enjoyed the Ricotta Toast with Hot Honey, the Peanut Butter Cup smoothie, and the Chickpea Salad Sandwich, which didn’t need meat to be a filling lunch option.

Stop by and check it out for yourself. Welcome to Main Street, Planted!
