Follow Your Art
Written and Photographed by Nancy Clover

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me creativity from Follow Your Art.
Art is an important way of communicating and understanding. Art is relaxing and thoughtful, it can run the gamut from whimsy to provocative. It allows creative energy to flow and enhances our community.
The big yellow house on Main Street has added so much color to Melrose. From the mural by the YMCA, the parklets, the rainbow cross walk, the little art gallery, and of course the chalk walk.
When you cross the threshold of FYA you can feel the creative energy. There is always something going on from a gallery showing, a myriad of art classes that span all ages, pottery, writing workshops, music, theatre, and artists in residences.
After school you will find the house a hive of activity, young children through teens are busy using their imagination. You can sense their passion and creativity.
FYA challenges Melrosians to be creative, no special skills needed, just an interest in learning and discovering. The staff offers inspiration and gentle guidance.
This artistic outlet is a nonprofit with a mission to support creative endeavors for all ages and abilities. We can help support their mission for art for all by donating at fyamelrose.org. Class schedules on their website.
Keep Melrose colorful!
