Melrose Has Gone to the Dogs!

Melrose Has Gone to the Dogs… and Cats… and We Love It!
Melrose is paws-itively pet-obsessed — and we’re not mad about it. From poodles to cats, we’ve got spots to pamper every furry friend.
Of course, we’ve got the beloved Waggery on Main Street, but a few fresh faces have joined the pack:
- Pet Grooming by Ariel – Sprucing up West Emerson one paw at a time.
- The Woof Wash – Taking over the former Pristine Pet space on Essex Street with plenty of fluff and suds.
- D Luxe Dog Spa – Coming soon to East Foster Street... expect luxury-level belly rubs.
And for your dog’s social calendar?
- River Dog (formerly The Dogwood Cottage) on Tremont Street is the go-to for daycare fun and tail-wagging good times.
- And another beloved doggie daycare in Melrose, A Better Companion on Tremont Street: a favorite of local dogs. In addition to daycare, they do grooming. The happy dogs come home beautiful after a spa day at A Better Companion.
When it comes to keeping our four-legged citizens healthy, Melrose Animal Hospital on Essex Street is a trusted favorite — treats and top-notch care included.
More pet-loving resources:
- Melrose Humane Society – An amazing all-volunteer cat rescue.
- Dog Parks – Let 'em run! One near the Knoll (closed July 7-18 for installation of a new fence), and another behind the Pine Banks ballfields.
And a huge shoutout to our unsung heroes: Dog walkers, pet sitters, and kind strangers who help lost or injured pets — you’re the reason tails keep wagging around here.
Melrose isn’t just pet-friendly — it’s pet fabulous.
