Vietnam Veterans Brunch Honored Those Who Served

Last weekend at Memorial Hall, something special happened — veterans, their families, and community members gathered not just for a delicious brunch, but for a moment of recognition, connection, and heartfelt thanks.

Thanks to the leadership of Tamara Shovelton, Director of Veterans’ Services, this event brought people together to honor those who have served — especially our Vietnam veterans.

Observed each year on March 29, National Vietnam War Veterans Day recognizes the 9 million Americans who served during the Vietnam War (1955–1975), as well as their families. Established in 2017, the day marks the departure of the last U.S. combat troops from Vietnam on March 29, 1973 — a moment in history that deserves both remembrance and respect.

The gathering was a beautiful reflection of that spirit.

From the incredible food to the warm conversations, it truly took a village:

Every detail contributed to an atmosphere of appreciation and community.

But beyond the brunch, this was about something deeper. It was about saying: We see you. We thank you. We remember.

To all our veterans — today and every day — we are grateful for your service and sacrifice. And to those who continue to create spaces like this where gratitude is shared out loud — thank you for keeping that spirit alive.
