I was saddened to hear that Joan Bell had passed away.
As part of the Melrose Tree Project, I met her several times in her capacity as the Superintendent of Parks and Open Spaces.
She was smart, funny, and dedicated — one of those people you instantly like.
My condolences to the family and the City of Melrose on the loss of this remarkable woman.
