Big Changes on Main Street
Main Street is seeing several changes right now - some brand new, others seasonal.
For one, the YMCA just finished renovating the 2nd floor, which now features a large new fitness area. They have also completed a poolside sauna, updates to the 1st floor locker rooms, and a new group exercise studio space. The grand opening of the new fitness area was on Tuesday, and members can take advantage of these new facilities at any time during opening hours.
Another new addition is a seasonal favorite - the Main Street parklets. These small seating areas do result in less parking on Main Street, but they allow people to enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee - or just relax - outside on the sidewalk during nice weather.
Finally, Big Fin Poke, which began in South Portland, Maine, and is moving into Melrose from its current location in the Northshore Mall, is slated to open soon, offering Hawaiian-style poke bowls - sometimes described as deconstructed sushi bowls - in the location formerly occupied by the Madison Ave of Melrose clothing store. Big Fin Poke will join Tenoch and Santa Fe in offering fast casual dining on Main Street.
Melrose residents can look forward to enjoying these renovations and new additions.
