Public Safety Night Created Community Connections

Melrose Public Safety Night returned this week after a year's hiatus, bringing the Melrose Police Department, the Melrose Fire Department, and various state and community organizations to Cabbage Patch Field in front of Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School for an evening of community connections and fun for all ages.

In the past, the Melrose Police Department has participated in National Night Out in August, but this year, Melrose held its own Public Safety Night.

Visitors could speak with members of the Melrose Police Department and Melrose Fire Department as well as the city's Health and Human Services Department, Melrose Alliance Against Violence, and other community organizations. A number of emergency vehicles were available for looking at and climbing in. Mounted officers from the Massachusetts State Police allowed visitors to pet their horses. Visitors could practice fire safety in a mobile smoke demonstration. And there was food, fun, and music for everyone.

Thanks for a great night, MPD and MFD!
